Malocclusion

Malocclusion leads to teeth surface attrition, enamel cracks, occurrence of enamel defects by the dental necks, and also to destruction of prosthetic works (cracking of porcelain, bridges and claddings). Incorrect occlusion influences gingival and bone condition in the vicinity of teeth under the strain. It results in gum atrophy, its retraction, exposition and oversensitivity of dental necks. Atrophy of the ligament between bone and tooth deepens gingival pockets. It impedes hygiene and leads to gingival inflammatory changes. That is why parodontosis treatment should begin with occlusion diagnostics. Long-term malocclusion may result in dysfunction of temporomandibular joints, whose symptoms are such as displacement of the temporomandibular joint disc (one of joint structures), its increased mobility, clicking in the jaw joint, pain in the region of ear, head and neck, hearing disorders, ear buzzing and other non-specific ailments.
